Bikers Join Hands to Promote Air Ambulance

Published:

The COVID-19 pandemic has played havoc on all parts of people’s lives and air ambulance services have been no exception. In countries like the United Kingdom where air ambulance services are mostly run by charitable organizations, fundraising has been a major challenge during this period. With the restrictions on people venturing out, most outdoor fundraising activities were on hold. Now that the restrictions have been lifted, hope is alive again. One such activity has been the Bike4Life Festival, which has traditionally attracted a huge amount of attention. It was recently held and over 4 thousand bikers were a part of this activity.

People from All Over Came Together for the Air Ambulance Cause

The event which is now in its 10th year was not held over the past couple of years due to the pandemic. This year saw huge participation. People from Scotland and France had travelled huge distances to take part in the event.

The bike festival was attended by legendary former World Superbike champ, Carl Fogarty, among others. The total amount raised was an impressive 80,000 British pounds. The amount goes to Midlands Air Ambulance. The organization receives no support from the government and largely depends on fundraising events like these.

It was a Community Event that Surpassed Borders

Bikers are a community within themselves and hold air ambulance services in high regard. One reason behind this is the fact that air ambulance services have, in the past, rescued fellow bikers during road accidents. The air charity, Midlands Air Ambulance, covers West Midlands, Worcestershire, Staffordshire, Herefordshire, and Gloucestershire.

The bikers who participated in the festival covered a total of 23 miles. They took off from Shrewsbury and rode to the Royal Air Force base in Cosford. The festival was held on a Sunday and the organization termed it a resounding success.
